Front section of an Ichthyosaur. Consisting of both ends of the lower jaws.
Parts of the skull including one temporal opening from the top of the skull
and the Basioccipital , Atlas-Axis and 35 Vertebra at 4 cm diameter
Most of the Shoulder girdle and both front paddles ( disarticulated )
Several Neural spines and odds and ends.
The Blue Lias stone band I found on Monmouth Beach Lyme Regis.
The bone block is 85 cm long encased in an American Ash display case

Part of the Articulated Vertebral column of an ichthyosaur
Which I collected at Monmouth Beach Lyme Regis
consisting of 35 vertebra at 6 cm in dia, and parts of the back paddle and girdle.
also preserved is the Basioccipital and the Humerus which I found deeper into the base of the cliffs not attached to the vertebral column block

An interesting shale slab from the Somerset coast containing part of the postcranial skeleton of an Ichthyosaur.
Consisting of 27 vertebra and neurals. The majority of the rib cage, most of the elements of both disarticulated front paddles and 4 teeth.

The spines were found in-situ in a cement stone pavement on Monmouth Beach Lyme Regis Dorset.
parts of the spines were subject to wear from shingle
to exposed parts of the spines - ( base of the right hand smaller rear spine and the upper surface of the tip of the front larger spine ). The upper surface of the tip as been restored.
The barbs on the rear of this tip are original.
The stone slab had to be recovered in several pieces
and restored, The spines, other than the tip of the larger spine have not been restored.
There is a possibility that the dark patches to the right hand side of the smaller Rear spine may be shark skin or fin covering.
Front Spine size: 48cm long. Rear Spine size: 28cm long.
